An arboretum is a museum for trees and shrubs. In the Netherlands, it is recognised as such and subsidised. It is the ideal place to observe biodiversity at first hand. There are a number of different types of arboreta; geographically landscaped arboreta, systematically built collections or simply scenic landscaped arboreta. All have huge collections of plants of scientific interest. The scenic arboreta, such as that in Bokrijk, are a must for every gardening enthusiast.
